🎶 To my friend (with video)
🎶To my friend who asked how Mando and I are doing physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Physical:
Physically I am well. I have discovered arnica works for sore muscles. Overall, I feel strong. When I asked Mando how he feels physically he answered, "physically I'm great!"
Emotional and Spiritual:
Emotions go up and down for me. An example: Walking from Santo Domingo de la Calzada in the morning and stopping with about 30 other people in Granon for breakfast.
Fresh coffee early in the morning is a treat so I was feeling very well. After breakfast I carried a small tray with dishes back to the outdoor café. I felt steady, so when a small glass fell off the tray and shattered, I heard the noise and for a second thought it must be someone else that dropped the glass. When I saw the pieces on the concrete I felt shattered by this small thing.
There was a broom nearby, so I swept the glass, as well as some dirt nearby for penance, and went up to the bar to ask how much to pay for the glass.
I was greeted by a friendly person who would not hear of me paying for the glass and he assured me that it was not the first glass to have been broken.
This kindness overwhelmed me and I turned a corner back onto the Camino and couldn't hold back tears.
Not a block away, there was an open church, Church of San Juan Bautista. It is rare for a church in such a small village to be open. I had promised to light a candle for a Camino friend, so I went inside and there was this pilgrim singing.
I lit candles. The singing and candles was what I needed. Some days emotionally I am well, others, a mess. I believe this is part of the Camino experience for me, and perhaps for others.
Mando's answer to how he's doing emotionally and spiritually, again, is "great!"🎶
To my friend who asked these questions:
I will call you when I get to Burgos and I get a new sim card. We could also talk on WhatsApp.
